The Water Tower is a part of Tom Fruin’s Icon series. This is the first water tower in the series. The entire structure was fabricated using steel and plexiglass. There are 77 pieces that make up the walls of the Tower and another 14 pieces make the roof of the structure. Each piece was laser cut out of 7 gauge cold rolled steel it is then hand rolled and welded before being powder coated black. Each piece has a matching mack piece made of 16 gauge cold rolled steel which is laser cut to match the face. This piece is used to compress and contain the plexi glass which colors the tower. the back piece is attached to the face using nuts and washers on studs which are individually welded to the face. There are approximately 4000 studs in the walls and roof of the water tower. All the plexi glass recycled or repurposed.
